Klappenberger & Son partners with Franchise Beast to expand its painting and handyman franchise nationwide

The Annapolis-based painting company has sold all territories in DC, Maryland and Virginia and is looking to other states for further expansion

The Klappenberger & Son Painting and Handyman franchise, known for its exquisite work across the DC region and for painting at the White House, the Smithsonian, the Capitol, and the Pentagon, announced today its new partnership with Franchise Beast, a franchise sales company known for taking brands such as Just Let Me Do It and Sobik’s Subs nationwide.

Founded in 1989, by David Klappenberger, Klappenberger & Son was an instant success and became known as one of the finest painting companies on the East Coast. Klappenberger & Son has a unique selling point in the franchise industry — a guarantee. David said the guarantee is that each new franchisee will do at least $500,000 in gross revenue in the first 20 months of the opening of his or her territory if certain qualifications are met. “I guarantee that revenue, or I’ll refund the franchise fee,” said David. “I just wanted to back up what I was teaching and put my money where my mouth is. I also noticed how big of a leap of faith it is for people to buy a franchise and I thought the guarantee would help reduce that anxiety.”

When David created the Klappenberger & Son franchise system, he wanted it to be the best, so he offered services and features that no other franchise offered. Training — “Our training program lasts six weeks. It includes all the pieces of the puzzle to not just run but grow your own business. Our competitors’ training only lasts two to four weeks.”

  • Not want to rest on last year’s salary, but rather want more
  • Possess basic business and computer skills

“Prior painting or home improvement experience will be considered a plus, and we even offer a compelling program option for existing painting businesses, however, previous industry experience is not a necessity. In fact I have yet to sell a franchise to anyone with any previous experience in painting or handyman” David said.
